Innovate Yourself First

“No money honey.”  This is what I am hearing in some jurisdictions.

Mindsets haven’t bounced back either, making innovation and continuous improvement near impossible. Especially in Victoria where they were hit the hardest.

If you are a leader of a team that are doing change as well as the titanic dodged those icebergs, then look at your own style of leadership first.

How engaged are you?

What is your narrative around innovation?

Are you calling your team to greatness?

Do you see them as capable and brilliant minds or as victims?

Do you coach your team or direct them forward?

Have you a plan to develop your team?

1. Start by more innovative place in your mind to think about how to buck the status quo and lead your team better.

Want to reduce your own stress to think clearer?

A study published in “Frontiers in Psychology” in 2019 found that spending at least 20-30 minutes in nature significantly reduces cortisol levels, a marker of stress, in the body. This “nature pill” can be an effective way to manage stress and improve overall well-being. Studies also point towards walking to inspire new thinking.

I heard a saying once, “Angels speak to those that walk”. I have found this to be true. I have come up with so many new ideas when walking. If I have my phone, I use the voice memo function to capture the ideas before they fly away.

2. Come along to my complementary webinar next week where you can do my Leadership Evaluation Framework tailored for leaders who work in caring professions. You will get clearer in this one hour that in months trying to figure this out on your own. You will get a clear picture of what is going to move the dial in your team to get the results you want. 3. Get a mentor or coach. Someone who can challenge your thinking and help you grow. Innovate yourself first.

4. Look for case studies of innovation and change and see how they did it. Sell yourself on change first.

No matter what you choose, you need to do something different. You must be the change before you change your team.

Lack of self-reflection or a growth strategy for you and your team with a way to navigate through these times is death to progress. It is death to your confidence and means you are going backwards.

Innovate yourself first.

Change yourself first.

Sell it to yourself first.

Leading your team, starts with leading yourself first.

Where are you going to start?
